PROJECT SMILE WITH SCHOOLS
Govt. Schools in Tirupattur and Erode regions

We provided stationary items, books and uniform dresses for the students of Govt. school in Tirupattur and near Erode worth of INR 10,500
​
Also, we donated a multipurpose Printer/scanner/xerox machine worth of INR 11,800 to a govt school in a very remote village in Erode district, where they had to walk several miles to take a single printout copy previously.

Smiley faction is associating with the school by introducing scholarship program for selected students worth INR 2,500 per month collectively. Currently, it is benefiting 10 kids from 3rd to 6th grade, who are from low income families.

Also We funded INR 10,000 for setting up a library in the school. All these activities are co-ordinated by Mr. Raghav Gajula - a BITS alumni and a faculty member.

Aarohan Learning Centre, Delhi.

Aarohan has been founded and managed by alumni of Teach for India and BITS Pilani who are passionate about engaging low income communities in nation building. Aarohan currently operates in a low income community of Delhi providing after school education to government school kids and livelihood skills training to their mothers
​
We partnered with Aarohan in providing financial assistance for sustaining their stationary & infrastructure needs for the kids. This amounts to INR 3,000 every month.
PROJECT SMILE WITH SCHOOLS
Govt. Panchayat Union School, Poondurai.

Smiley faction was approached by the Prinicipal of the Panchayat Union School in a village near Erode. The school has close to 50 kids pursuing their primary education & most of them are from low income background. The school had a very poorly managed water dispenser system and the kids were forced to drink water from that source only. Also, the School did not have a compound wall gate due to which the premises were misused by few miscreants.
We inspected it and funded INR 7,000 to replace the damaged water dispenser with a brand new one. The kids are now provided with good drinking water. We also constructed a compound wall gate and secured the school from being misused by anyone.
PROJECT SMILE WITH SCHOOLS
Lab set up in a Govt High School, Erode

Smiley faction was approached by the faculties of a Govt high school in Erode where students from Classes 6 to 10 are studying. The school was lacking a proper lab facility especially for class 9 & 10 students. They were using plastic cup boards, tables & buckets to conduct their science experiements. We inspected the school and decided to construct a basic lab facility for these students.
We funded INR 20,000 and engaged a constructor who managed to convert one of the classrooms into a laboratory equipped with stone slabs, shelves & sink. The students are now able to use this newly set up lab facility for their projects
HELP DURING CHENNAI FLOODS
Stationary needs of students in flood affected regions, Chennai

Smiley Faction used social media & mobile networking services to reach out to school students living in low lying areas of Chennai where the impact of floods were worse. We received some requests from the areas of Athipattu, Guduvanchery, Choolaimedu & RA Puram where students lost their stationaries & books.
We provided school bags, text books & notebooks for classes 4th, 6th & 10th to the flood-affected students from these regions.
